Here is a detailed tutorial I made describing how to install an AUX input to your car. For this to work your car must have XM radio capabilities. You DO NOT have to be subscribed to XM (I am not). This was done on a 2004 GMC Yukon, but as long as you can find the XM module you should be able to perform a similar operation. Let me know if you have any questions at all! Enjoy.

Things you will need:

3.5mm Audio Jack (I bought a 2pk at Radio Shack for about $2.00)

Some speaker wire, or similar. (Enough to reach from where you mount the jack to your XM module)

Tools that would help

Soldering Iron & Solder

Wire Strippers/Cutter

Some kind of electrical insulator (I used liquid electrical tape)

A drill or Dremel

Hey what a great idea!

Head Units have moved on since this was first posted and now come with Bluetooth and AUX inputs - no CD Changer. I like my CD Changer, and want to do the reverse. How would I go about making the rear AUX (yes, it has one) work with my CD Changer?

Any tips on someone who can work out how to do this, of it it's possible, would be very welcome.

Also, could I use 'electric glue' instead of solder?

Hey for some reason I can't find 3.5 audio jack receiver. If i used 3.5 mm receiver connected to RC cables could I cut the end of the RC plugs and connect those to the car? and would I need to ground the wire? if so how how to ground it?,kpid:1266355,adtype:pla,channel:online&gclid=Cj0KEQjw8u23BRCg6YnzmJmPqYgBEiQALf_XzVrXQyMC9Epros5EQdO-FIrGEP7WKtKKhn8RTaaeMJgaAncu8P8HAQ

like could i just ground the black and white wire somwhere on the car and only connect the rc cables to the brown and green wires?

I would like to use that mod and add Bluetooth to the jack, and leave it hidden, any comments?

Could you use a 3P3T switch to switch inbetween auxillary and XM?

I believe that should work. I have not done that, but no reason it wouldn't.
